Hi There,

I just installed the Rapid Contact module and it went really well, only I am not receiving any emails... I filled in my address in the email recipient box.

Can you help me?

Hello.

Have you configured your Joomla! mail settings?

Those are found in the Site menu, in your site's administrator, under Global Preferences menu item.

To configure those settings you probably need to contact your host.

Thank you

Hello.

You should use the settings from your future host, or use a well-known SMTP host, like Google or Yahoo.

Contact me in my mail ( mavrosxristoforos@gmail.com ) if you need more exact information on what to put in each field.

Thank you

You can do that by creating a new Rapid Contact module from the New button in the Module Manager, but the two should never be in the same page.

I'm on FF (obviously) and it looks fine.

I have accessed it from more than 4 computers in the last 10 days and it looked fine there, too.

Can you send me a screenshot to my mail mavrosxristoforos@gmail.com

Thank you

Something is wrong with this picture...
According to Joomla documentation,
SMTP Username, password and Host are "only used if Mailer is set to Sendmail."

Perhaps, if you choose "SMTP Server" as Mailer, you do not need user//password//host ?

Hello.

Thank you for your post.

They have probably made a mistake, because it is obviously necessary to write SMTP username and password to use the SMTP Server.

If it wasn't then you wouldn't be able to use Gmail or any other service to handle your emails, since you obviously need your password to connect with them.

They probably just copied the line, and forgot to change the Sendmail word.

But, please try to use it without username and password and share the results with us, as I can be mistaken, as well.

Thank you again.

I have installed and configured the mail utility but I'm am not receiving emails using my email in the mail recipient field. Currently I am designing a site locally I'm not sure if that changes things. How should my mail setting be configured if I haven't put it on a server just yet and conversely I'd like to know what setting I need to get from my host when I do decide to put it online. Should I be using Sendmail or SMTP server? Right now I'd just like to see it work with a basic gmail address. Thanks for all the help in advance. I love your work so far.

My settings are as follows and ithis works. I'm not sure why it works cause I have SMTP server and sendmail together but this does if fact work. And my site it locally isntalled now. I'm not sure if it will change when I install it on a web host server.

Mailer: SMTP server
Mail from:
Mail From:
Sendmail Path: /usr/sbin/sendmail
SMTP authentication: yes
SMTP security: SSL
SMTP Port: 465
SMTP username:xxx
SMTP password: xxx
SMTP host: smtp.gmail.com

Well, the sendmail path is not used, unless you have SendMail as the Mailer in your configurations.

Thank you again.
