Hi, I have a weird problem all of a sudden. While everything was working fine suddenly confirmation link from the confirmation email as well as unsubscribe link from the newsletter email have stopped working. The user clicks on either the confirmation link from the confirmation email or the unsubscribe link from the newsletter email but he is not confirmed or unsubscribed.

I managed to overcome the unsubscribe problem by giving an unsubscribe link to a menu item with the unsubscribe layout, where the user clicks, goes to the unsubscribe page and fills in his email to unsubscribe. This works but for me it's a workaround since i wanted the instant unsubscribe solution.

It seems to me that all smart text has suddenly stopped working and I'm not sure where to check for the problem. I checked the component parameters, module parameters and plugin parameters and everything is as it should be. My joomla version is 1.5.21 and I have NS Pro 1.5 installed.

So to sum up :

the {conf_link}my text here{/conf_link}

and the {link:UNSUB}my text here{/live}

smart text point to the correct urls but nothing happens (no unsubscription and no confirmation).

Any ideas?

Problem update:

It appears - after hours of searching the cause of the problem - that the issue occurs when sh404sef is turned on to enable friendly URLs. I'm not sure how to solve this so the developer's insight would be much appreciated !!

I'm posting a solution for the problem with nspro links and sh404sef in case someone else encounters the same problem :

For the smart text of ns pro to work in case you also have sh404sef installed for sef urls just go to sh404sef -> configuration -> sh404sef configuration -> by component - locate the NS Pro item and change first option from (use default handler) to 'nocache'

The ns pro urls will not be transformed to friendly urls and they'll work.

It's sh404SEF that always gets into other component business.

You can luckily also disable its influence in the sh404SEF configuration - you can select which component not to handle at all.

The programming reason this happens is that when you first access the URL, the page gets the unique key to confirm your email. Every other call to that URL makes sh404SEF to pass the same key, making it only confirm your email and not the actual one.
